BOOK REVIEW: YA FANTASY Whispers of Nowhere by Shannon Rohrer

BOOK REVIEW: YA FANTASY ADVENTURE, MYTHS AND LEGENDS
()

Artifacts come to life, and Gods really do exist. It's Gwen's job to reseal the portal to the supernatural prison that houses all the greatest demons, in particular... a shadow with a penchant for revenge against her new found friends.

Story begins with Gwen's father bringing home ancient artifacts, and she's magically drawn to them, POOF her touch sends all the artifacts all over the place, but they were unsealed leaving a portal to an alternate universe prison for criminals open (reminding me of Inuyasha) Now, there is a mystery of why she is connected to these artifacts & she's the only one who can sense them to reseal the portal. QUEST ensues!

I must admit, this isn't normally my type of fantasy adventure series, but the character development in it kept me reading until the end. This story is perfect for readers of all ages, as the content does not have anything sexual, veering more towards friendships, duty, and justice for the good guys (though sometimes at a high cost). This was a light-hearted adventure with a heroes journey of call to action, training, no turning back, and discovering your true identity.

For me personally I rate this as a 3.5 enjoyment level, which means it's a good book, but I didn't gobble it up faster than a normal read. It is well written, and the fact that I didn't rate it higher has nothing to do with the book, but my own personal preferences, which is why I round up in all my other site ratings to 4 star. I usually like a little bit more romance in my reads, and this was too light of a read for my preferences, but I can still appreciate a good read, and do not regret reading it. The plot was well done and executed. It has good tropes, and the characters are fun.

Thanks for reading!
