Twilight Siege: A Dark Fantasy Novel (The Fae Games Book 2)

They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger—if that's the case, I better be badass by the time this is over.

After her carefree world is ripped apart, Rebecca Peterson must accept her new life and the dark powers that come with it. Navigating this new landscape of deceit and manipulation is paramount if she is to stop hordes of blood-thirsty Faeries from invading Earth.

Now that Ronan’s motivations are clear, Becca looks to Lochlan for help, but the sweltering tension between them is a dangerous distraction. He draws her in, like no man she has ever met, and lives his life by rules she never knew existed. He takes her deep into the treacherous Shadow Lands, where both her knowledge and courage will be tested—but will it be enough to take on a centuries old enemy hell-bent on death and destruction? To keep those she loves safe, Becca is willing to risk it all.

In this captivating conclusion to The Fae Games Duet, Jill Ramsower takes her readers from the streets of Belfast on a harrowing journey to the most dangerous corners of Faery, where fear is a lethal enemy and trust is a luxury few can afford.

REVIEW:

Okay, so this book is super steamy. My favorite part of the book was the ending, it wrapped up perfectly. Twilight Siege does not need its first book to be read, but reading the first book makes this book so much better. So, I recommend reading both of them in order, but you don't have to. Book two was so much better than book one.

Personal preference: I wasn't super fond of the diary inserts in the middle of the book, but I understood their purpose to display time passing, and speeding up the dullness of life before the action gets going. I could have done without them, but I can see where some people would like them, so I also can't advocate for their removable either.

Becca is a very likable character she has her moral compass on straight and wants others to follow suit even if it means sacrificing herself for the greater good. The stakes are high, the fate of humanity is hanging on her preventing the dark fae from terrorizing Earth, and she struggles with real relationship problems both with her best friend Ashley and her romantic interest Lochlan. And when light fae require sex to refuel their magic, that can get a bit sticky for a girl that wants exclusivity. Who hasn't related to that age old problem of wanting more than what another person can give? The book is a fast read, and I enjoyed the writing a lot.

Twilight Siege takes you through a magical tale interweaving Arthurian legend with fae lore and the author guides you through the vulnerability of Becca and gives you a spicy romance to boot.

Warnings, there is violence, there are lots of sexual situations, and... yes sex, (very steamy) it's how the light fae feed their magic, so lots of that. There are also the occasional swear words, but I don't feel they are overly done, so it fit well with the story.

I give this book a 5 star.

Great part is that you can read the book for FREE with Kindle Unlimited, or have it for as many yummy reads as you want for $3.99. I also received a free ARC copy from the Author for a honest review.
