<br />
A book to feel for. "Julian" is everything I read books for. To feel something and be transported into a suspension of my imagination. I couldn't put this book down.<br />
<br />
This book made me cry multiple times, because I'm a sap, and because I felt for this character. There's something so heart wrenching about that feeling you get when you want to be loved, but you push it away because you don't know how to process it when it comes. Yes, some people might be annoyed with how the character handles herself in the face of a dying woman, and a loving family. But, when you've been abandoned most of your life it's a very real and raw reaction to push away that small glimmer of hope that what you've been missing all of your life is finally within your reach. Because you're used to not having it, and once it's in your hands it would be even more devastating to have it snatched away from you all over again.<br />
<br />
This book tears at those core feelings, and it's bundled in a beautiful love story.<br />
<br />
I absolutely loved this book, and reading books that suck me in like this one did is exactly why I read at all. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good angel story, and who doesn't mind a good cry.<br />

<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40622144-the-midsummer-wife" target="_blank">THE MIDSUMMER WIFE BY CHURCH SIMONDS JACQUELINE</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Arthurian legend reincarnated into the present day.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Merlin, Arthur, Gwen are all reborn to protect the world from Morgan and her Helaite followers. There is an underground faith and Ava is it's priestess sworn to find the reborn and help guide them towards preventing an age old war from being reborn along with them. They have access to a lost art of magic that throws you into a world where psychic abilities allow them to communicate through thoughts, sense what people are feeling, and even manipulate those feelings.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If legends, friendship, and sorcery are your thing then this book checks all those boxes.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40622144-the-midsummer-wife" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="475" data-original-width="316" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPhmElJQvxVWaBHPhvIVsHMoOR6S2jQ1qwMzUbfNZukADrkaUAHZdwQ0OH0ID-oIEZ2JT9K9svbsYMiF4RCTRWvwM7-4qKbVTArdJ5qRE2NXpLotcdGTcbund466xTmTbwXkRPew7msRbu/s320/Midsummerwife.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I swept through the first half of this book pretty quick, it's easy to read, and well written. At around 59% it came to a lull for me personally, as I found the scenarios, and the way the plot progressed to be too youthful for me. The characters themselves are adults, and there are adult situations that happen in this book, but the reading became much too tedious for me after the first half of the book. It seemed like everything was repeated and explained, and the I lost my desire to find out what happens, because I felt like I already knew. Which, for a younger reader (though I should warn this book does have sex, so not too young of a reader) or someone who likes the lore and legend of the book they would enjoy this style a lot, I however tried to continue to read this book many times only to put it down after a few pages each time. It took me two days to read the first 50%, it was a very good start, but it lost me in the middle, and tried as I might I could not finish reading the book.<br />
<br />
This book ends with a DNF for me, as soon as a book is picked up several times and the only thing keeping me reading it is my desire to pay it forward with a review for them I have to admit that the book isn't for me, and should be left for another to give it some much needed love. I was not the right audience for the material.<br />
<br />
The author is a great writer, so I would not check them off my list of potential reads in the future, I did read through the first 50% very quickly and enjoyed it, so I'll keep an eye out for future books that might be more my style.<br />
<br />
Until next time!</div>

I apologize for the delay, I guess you could say 2018 kicked me in the butt, and I strive to do better in 2019.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm going to be doing things a little different this year for reviews to streamline things and make things easier for authors and readers. The new format is this: Review Tag, Book Quote, Book Blurb, Review Rating, Review, Author.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><b>REVIEW TAG:</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">"If you're looking for something steamy with a slab of fantastic Fae mischief then you're in for a treat!"</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><b>BOOK QUOTE:</b></span></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: inherit;">"Not every hurt can be forgiven, it's up to us to decide what we hold onto and what can be let go." -- Shades of Betrayal by Jill Ramsower</span></b></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">BOOK BLURB: </span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>Ashley </b></div>
<br />
All my wildest fantasies have come true, but reality is never quite as simple as we imagine. I dreamed of living in a wondrous world of the supernatural and having magical powers of my own. Now, I have all of that, but it comes with a caveat—a six foot Fae brute who is supposed to train me on all things Fae. He’s a dauntless warrior of the Wild Hunt. A beautiful bigot. He’s my lover and my burden, my savior and my curse.<br />
<br />
There’s a monster lose in the city leaving a trail of bodies in its wake. I want more than anything to help others with my new abilities—what better use of my power than to stop a killer? Too bad Michael doesn’t feel the same.<br />
<br />
<b>Michael </b><br />
<br />
She’s a born fighter. Courageous and brash like the heroes she reads about. Two weeks ago I carried her lifeless body out of a dirty alley. Ever since, my carefully constructed world has been leveled, despite my endless efforts at damage control.<br />
<br />
Ashley Moore is a force of nature. Her best friend is the Erlking’s woman, and together, Ashley and Rebecca have infiltrated our brotherhood. Everything about our lives is dangerous, so I’ve done what I can to protect her—even if she ends up hating me for it.<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><b>REVIEW:</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">If you're looking for something steamy with a slab of fantastic Fae mischief then you're in for a treat!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Jill Ramsower does not disappoint in her stand alone spin off of the best friend's side of story from her previous books. You can read this one by itself, but I have to admit it is much better having known the whole story from the other two books, see those reviews here: <a href="https://heavensfiction.blogspot.com/2018/07/book-review-shadow-play-dark-fantasy.html">Shadow Play</a> and <a href="https://heavensfiction.blogspot.com/2018/09/book-review-twilight-siege-dark-fantasy.html">Twilight Siege</a>. ALL of her books are just fantastic reads, however they are an acquired taste due to the content warnings.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">That being said, don't get me wrong this book is definitely a 5-wing for some people, and I was on the fence about rating it as a 5 myself, it just didn't give me the same something that her other two books gave, so in comparing her to herself I couldn't give them the same ratings. She can blame her own awesomeness for this conundrum.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The book follows Ashley, the best friend of Becca from the first two books. To be honest I really enjoyed Ashley's character a lot and she definitely needed her own book. She's a great book editor, so much so her job wouldn't let her quit and allowed her to work from home in a different country, jealous much-- yes, I am. And Michael is a brooding anti-hero if I ever did read one, for sure. Honestly, the only reason I didn't give this book a five-wing is because personally I had to put the book down several times because Michael came off like a dick, and not the kind of dick that I was rooting for, in the end he comes around and gets his head out of his ass, but his character is why this book didn't get my </span>unwavering<span style="font-family: inherit;"> fan flag waving.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">And trust me, I AM a total fan of Jill's books, and her writing style. I will eat up her next books when they come out whenever she gives them to me. But, this book was made better by having read the other two books, and standing alone I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, so I had to give it a 4-wing instead of 5. Either way, keep them coming Jill!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
Holidays are always a busy time, and as such my reading for reviews has suffered.<br>
<br>
I have read Bertrice Small's Friarsgate Inheritance series this month, which doesn't fall in line with the genre of this review blog, so no new posting has been made, but if you like historical romances Bertrice Small is definitely one of my favorites.<br>
<br>
I have also listened to the audiobook <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4H9MNN/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01N4H9MNN&linkCode=as2&tag=steviemarie-20&linkId=11ad417a6ea7c25ee424f30abcb5d2fe" target="_blank">Insidious: An Urban Fantasy Romance (The Marked Mage Chronicles, Book 1)</a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="//ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=steviemarie-20&l=am2&o=1&a=B01N4H9MNN" style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" width="1">, which was super good so I downloaded book two. I listen to books while I'm driving, and it was a fun book, the narration was on point. I did not create a blog post for this, even though it does fall into line of the blog's genre. I'll probably make a post for this after finishing book two.<br>
<br>
I'm currently reading:<br>

<br>
I admit the above books have taken me longer to read, not due to their content, but due to them not being paranormal romances or historical romances, I tend to pick these types of books up and read a few chapters here and there until they are complete, bear with me while I gobble these up.<br>

Serial reading struck me again folks, I'm usually only monogamous with Paranormal Romances, and then have a few fantasy books on the sidelines that I read a chapter or two at a time and then binge a good romance, then read a few more chapters of my other books.<br>

<br />
If you like romance, and twists, and dark heroes, then this book is for you. I read the WHOLE series, books one through four, in less than two weeks. Given I was on vacation, I probably would have read it faster if I wasn't distracted with stuff like paying attention to my significant other creature. Those can be a pain sometimes when they interrupt what I would call my favorite kinds of stories, the ones that make you stay up late, and forget to eat, and ignore people in favor of the unreal reality of a good book.<br />
<br />
So yes, 5-wings, and if I could give it more I would. This is my LOVE category! I'm a new FAN!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Warning for this book is that the first 20% of book one was kind of eh for me, but once I got past the cliche beginning of girl coming out of a psych ward after her father was killed, and her mom was already dead before that, I was hooked and the rest of the books just sucked me in until the very end, and if there was another book in this series I would gobble that up too.<br />
<br />
There was such a wonderful TWIST at the end of book one that you will grab book two super fast and want everything explained ASAP.<br />
<br />
Book four warning has detailed sexual situations, and graphic language, for those of you who don't want your preteens picking up a YA book and having some adult situations present themselves.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Book Description:</b></div>
<br />
My name is Jemma Blackburn and I have a secret. I know vampires are real. I watched one murder my father eight months ago, and even though they tried to convince me it didn’t happen—that I’d lost touch with reality due to the trauma, I know what I saw was real.<br />
<br />
Hollow Hills is now the place I call home. It was supposed to be my chance at a normal life. My chance to bury my secret and start over. But everyone around me is keeping their own secrets, whispering lies into my ears like promises, and one of them is about to turn my entire world upside down.<br />
<br />
I thought I had it all figured out. I thought I had the answers. I thought I knew who I was. The truth is, I didn’t even know the half of it. There's a reason these vampires are still after me. There's a reason they will always hunt me. Because I'm not human.<br />
<br />
I'm the devil they fear and the angel they crave.<br />
Only problem is, I don't know it yet.<br />
<br />
INCEPTION is the enthralling first installment in The Marked Saga. A coming of age YA paranormal romance full of atmosphere, supernatural adventure, and jaw-dropping twists that will keep you guessing until the very last page.<br />
<br />
Perfect for fans of Twilight, Vampire Diaries and Fallen Angel Romances.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Artifacts come to life, and Gods really do exist. It's Gwen's job to reseal the portal to the supernatural prison that houses all the greatest demons, in particular... a shadow with a penchant for revenge against her new found friends.<br />
<br />
Story begins with Gwen's father bringing home ancient artifacts, and she's magically drawn to them, POOF her touch sends all the artifacts all over the place, but they were unsealed leaving a portal to an alternate universe prison for criminals open (reminding me of Inuyasha) Now, there is a mystery of why she is connected to these artifacts & she's the only one who can sense them to reseal the portal. QUEST ensues!<br />
<br />
I must admit, this isn't normally my type of fantasy adventure series, but the character development in it kept me reading until the end. This story is perfect for readers of all ages, as the content does not have anything sexual, veering more towards friendships, duty, and justice for the good guys (though sometimes at a high cost). This was a light-hearted adventure with a heroes journey of call to action, training, no turning back, and discovering your true identity.<br />
<br />

For me personally I rate this as a 3.5 enjoyment level, which means it's a good book, but I didn't gobble it up faster than a normal read. It is well written, and the fact that I didn't rate it higher has nothing to do with the book, but my own personal preferences, which is why I round up in all my other site ratings to 4 star. I usually like a little bit more romance in my reads, and this was too light of a read for my preferences, but I can still appreciate a good read, and do not regret reading it. The plot was well done and executed. It has good tropes, and the characters are fun.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading!<br />

<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
(Version 2) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-mce-href="http://www.nanowrimo.org/" href="http://www.nanowrimo.org/" target="_blank" title="nanwrimo"><img alt="" class="size-medium wp-image-729 aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://glitterword.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/comic1-nanotoon-500w.jpg?w=300" height="302" src="https://glitterword.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/comic1-nanotoon-500w.jpg?w=300" title="Comic1-NaNoToon-500w" width="356" /></a></div>
It's that time again, <a data-mce-href="http://www.nanowrimo.org/" href="http://www.nanowrimo.org/" target="_blank" title="nanowrimo">Nanowrimo</a>, the month of November dedicated towards the goal of writing 50k words in 30 days.<br />
<span style="color: #666666;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666;">If you don't want the pep talk scroll until you see STEP ONE!</span><br />
<br />
Think I'm crazy?<br />
<br />
In the words of Cage from Ally Mcbeal , <span style="color: blue;"><i>"I will not be disparaged."</i></span><br />
<span style="color: blue;"><i><br /></i></span>
Meaning,
I will not let the craziness of my goal be reduced in esteem because
writing 50k words in 30 days is a feat my friends! I tried last year and
failed... not because I couldn't do it, but I let my other goals
belittle the importance of this one.<br />
(FYI- was only 5k off from success --> 44750 / 50000 words. 90% done!)<br />
<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
Say it with me!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<b>"I will not let my other goals disparage me from the equally important goal of NANOWRIMO!"</b></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Why you may ask?</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Because NANOWRIMO gives you the opportunity to be accountable to your writing dreams.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Because before NANOWRIMO that's what writing was... just a dream!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Because with NANOWRIMO your dream can become reality!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
A little dramatic, perhaps, but it is true none the less.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Yes,
you can disparage yourself from participating because you know deep
down you don't have the time to complete the challenge. But who said
anything about having to complete it this instant! It's about reaching
for the stars shaped like bull horns... or was it bull horns in the
stars? Either way, if the goal was easy then it wouldn't be a goal,
would it?</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
The fact that the goal seems so far away is what makes us strive to get more done.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Who cares if you only write 25k in the month of November?</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Would you have written 25k otherwise? </div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Is that 25k more than what would have happened without the goal of 50k?<br />
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><b>This month is about writing, and writing the most that you can.</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Why
is it about writing? Because writing is deep in your marrow screaming
to be let loose on the world. If it wasn't then you wouldn't be reading
this post.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
You have a desire to write!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
So do it!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>WRITE</b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b></b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Now
I know you'll read about many ways to prepare for such a feat, but I'm
not going to talk about outlines or snowflake diagrams because that
isn't how I work.<br />
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
I am a pantser thru and thru.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
What is a pantser?</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
It's
someone who has an idea, a dream, a thought, and just writes. No
outlines, no character sheets, no computer program question and answers.
Just writing, and an idea.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
It starts with a dream for me. About a character I have in my mind. And of course I write that down for my reference. And I also write down where I want it to end, what I want to happen. The journey to get there... well, that's a mystery until my characters speak to me.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
This year will probably be easier for me than previous years before, because the foundation of my characters are already built up from book one <i><a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39935353-blood-crescent" target="_blank">Blood Crescent</a></i> and book two <i>Blood Rebirth</i>, but this year's NANOWRIMO project is book three <i>Blood Queen</i>.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
I have a starting point... The Trial Grounds. I have the basic idea of what trials my character will go through, and yes... I even know the ending. I can't spoil that for you though, so you'll just have to take my word for it, but if you're curious then you can always read the book for free with Kindle Unlimited and sign up for <a href="https://steviemarie.com/" target="_blank">my newsletter</a> to get an inside scoop and super mysterious, yet awesome, freebies from <a href="http://www.steviemarie.com/">www.steviemarie.com</a>.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
So that's how it works.<br />
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
To be a pantser the only thing you need to know is what you want to write about. An idea. Or just a character that you want to get to know.<br />
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<a data-mce-href="http://glitterword.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/dsc07241.jpg" href="http://glitterword.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/dsc07241.jpg"><img alt="" class="size-medium wp-image-116" data-mce-src="http://glitterword.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/dsc07241.jpg?w=300" height="199" src="https://glitterword.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/dsc07241.jpg?w=300" title="BigAwesomeIdea" width="300" /></a></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 1: <a data-mce-href="http://www.namegenerator.biz/random-name-generator.php" href="http://www.namegenerator.biz/random-name-generator.php" target="_blank" title="namegenerator">Name generator</a>: </b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Don't
worry about names until later... you can always change them and most of
the time even a well thought out name gets changed because it might not
fit the character later. I use Namegenerator.biz it lets you pick
between their female or male name generator , first and last name. Or
they even have origin name generators if your character should have a
specific origin like Japan.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
My female name: Melody Derosa</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
My male name: Cable Meyer<br />
<br />
FYI I totally used these names in another one of my books, and their last names were generated for me. If you end up using them too then you absolutely have to tell me who they are and let me know when you've created their stories! Because my characters will probably be completely different than yours.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
Or
if you have a specific first name in mind but want a last name for them
the generator also has something for that as well! Enter first name and
generate a last name! Sweet right?! Of course it is!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 2: Goal</b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Okay,
even a pantser should know what your character's goals are... even if
they are vague and come together more clearly as you write.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Starter goal(s): Good to have at least 2 goals... because no normal person has only one goal... <b><span style="color: #674ea7;"><span style="background-color: white;"><i>we are multifaceted.</i></span></span></b></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Melody:
<b>deeper goal</b>: wants to be 'the one' not just the girl before
... <b>surface goal</b>: wants to earn her wings and join a higher ranking
angel society (higher ranking in her mind) all about how she perceives
being higher ranked.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Cable:
<b> deeper goal</b>: wants to have more than just surface
friendships/acquaintances, <b>surface goal</b>: wants to be a successful
artist without being known for his father's successes.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Now
I had a deeper goal (which is the goal they don't realize they want
until later) and the surface goal (which is what they distract
themselves with to begin with. )</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 3: Starting where? Ending where?</b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Now
that you have a name... and you have what your main character's goals
are... now it's time to figure out where you're going to start writing
the story and where you want it to end. All the inbetween with a pantser
is figured out while you write and follow your characters around like
stalkers.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Starting:
Melody's in a relationship with (random name- Trent Revlin) showing him
the joys of the small things in life, like going to the Seattle Art
Walk event. Where they both meet Cable a so called struggling artist
with talent. What Melody doesn't know is that Cable may look like a bum
but that is by his own doing, he quit his job as a successful business
man primed to take over his father's business to be disowned and start a
new life.</div>

<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Ending:
Well you know how romances go. They end up together but the story comes
from how they get there... not even I know that yet! Joys of pantsing
is I am just as shocked as an outside reader. You may also know various
things you want to have happened to get to this point. Write those down
so you don't forget.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Step 4: WRITE</b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
So
you have your starting point and you are ready to NANOWRIMO come Oct
31st at midnight. </div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
Let the ideas you've generated just linger and grow. </div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: center;">
As new things come to your mind write them down. </div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Maybe you see your
characters in your head and discover that your main character hates
sushi... or loves it, whatever... just write it down. </div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Maybe you see your
character and know they have long hair and several piercings and tattoos
or wears suits all the time... Write it down.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
Whatever
you do... <b>to officially be a pantser</b>... don't you dare take out those
post its or index cards and start writing what happens scene by scene
and developing your plot.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<b>A
pantser just writes</b> down the ideas and then wings it. If it comes to
the point that your ideas said that, "such and such should happen" but your
characters aren't feeling it then don't do it. <b><span style="color: #741b47;"><i>Listen to your characters

<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">

I am not saying outlining is bad, if that's how you work then great!</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
But
for those of us that see their story like a movie in their brain and
just write it as it comes then </div>

PS: Your first draft is not your last draft... it's not meant to be perfect. Just write it down, and reorganize, reread, and rewrite later after the whole thing is out and in the world. Think of it like clay, you can't make even something as simple as a bowl until you have the clay to begin with. The first draft is your pile of clay. Then as you reread, and reorganize you are splashing water on it and molding it with your fingers to it's final form. But, like all writing it isn't finished until you've abandoned it, so you can rework and fine tune it over and over again until you decide to put that sucker in the kiln to solidify it and seal it up. NANOWRIMO is meant to be your clay production, not your final form, so don't stress about perfection.</div>

<i><a href="https://steviemarie.com/books/blood-crescent/" target="_blank">Blood Crescent</a> </i>has been released as of September 21st 2018<i>. </i>So, I've been super swamped with all the marketing for it, and following up with the blog tour. But! October is my vacation month, so I have plane rides and lounging on the beach... READING CATCH UP TIME!<br>
<br>
I'm currently reading:<br>
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36487415-the-blood-prince" target="_blank">The Blood Prince</a> - Fantasy by Marie Blanchet (56% completed during September.) <--- I plan on finishing this one this month!<br>
<a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38729689-whispers-of-nowhere" target="_blank">Whispers of Nowhere</a> - YA Urban Fantasy by Shannon Rohrer (15% through this one)<br>
<br>
Yes, I admit this... I am a serial reader. Staying monogamous with one book is difficult for me to do unless I'm on vacation. I am usually switching between 2 to 3 and sometimes 4 books at a time. It's a problem, I know.<br>
<br>
This post is here for the readers who follow this blog, and the authors that have submitted for review requests, this gives you an overview of what is to come, and gives you (the reader) the chance to comment on this post if you have review requests that you'd like me to add to my list for NOVEMBER 2018.<br>

<br />
Hadrian Catane never wrote a law he couldn’t keep. Until now. Hadrian’s Laws are very clear on vampire-human interaction: No human can know of the immortals’ existence; those who do must die.<br />
<br />
Aubrianna Pennington only wanted a quick drive to clear her head. She would have been home for dinner if it wasn’t for the accident. In the dark and the rain, an angel comes for her, but not to take her to the afterlife.<br />
<br />
Drawn by crippling pain to a scene of destruction, Hadrian finds Aubri dying. The mysterious bond that connects them allows Hadrian to feel all of her agony. As she slips closer to death, it’s impossible to know if she’ll take him with. Forced to act on instinct, he chooses to save her.<br />
<br />
Unrest stirs within the vampire hierarchy. With werewolf attacks on the rise, all eyes are on Hadrian as the leader of the Immortal World. His realm is on the brink of civil war and the last thing Hadrian needs is to show any weakness, but in keeping Aubri alive he may end up breaking every single one of his Laws.<br />

Review:<br />
<br />
This may be #4 in a series, but you don't need to read previous books to enjoy this one, but you'll want to read all of them after you do! This is a standalone within a series, it works wonderful without any other background info. "Tears You Apart" is a paranormal romance from the Immortal World Series by Shannon Hiner, about a new adult girl named Aubri that runs into some "bad" or "good" luck depending on how you look at it to get in a car accident that changes her life forever when she meets the leader of the vampire world.<br />
<br />
I loved the unexplainable connection between the characters, and then when it's actually explained it all made sense, tying together into a great plot and enjoyable read. The characters really bonded, and following them on their love journey wrapped into a supernatural scheme to pit the werewolves and vampires against each other has me excited to see what Shannon comes up with next.<br />
<br />
If you're into paranormal romances this checks all the boxes for a great read!<br />
<br />
About Shannon A. Hiner:<br />
<br />
Shannon A Hiner lives in the mountains of Northern California where, she claims, there is a vampire city, a pack of werewolves, and plenty of faeries. She occupies a small parcel of land with her trusty cat, Pangur Ban and a computer fondly known as Raphael. She does not travel without pen and journal.<br />
<br />
She has an Associates Degree in Language Arts from Butte College, in Oroville CA.<br />
<br />
Upon publishing her first novel, Submerged In Darkness, in 2009, Shannon discovered that she had written the last book in an epic series. Since then, she has embarked upon a quest to write and publish all preceding books.<br />

Heat licked at Dale Hicks’s skin, excruciating and throbbing. Pain obscured his thoughts down a never-ending tunnel that twisted and turned, getting narrower and narrower. It burned in the most painful way he’d ever experienced. Opening his eyes, he stared around in terror. What happened? His surroundings sparked no sense of the familiar. He thought back to his last memory, yet it seemed so unattainable. He could almost reach out and touch it, but every time he mentally grabbed at it, the memories floated away, leaving a vast emptiness. The rough ground tore into his back, and he propped himself up against a stone wall behind him.<br />
<br />
Red, flickering light illuminated the room. Fear shot down Dale’s spine. Something bad had happened.<br />
<br />
A large figure came forward. Shadows rippled across the massive frame. Red eyes, sparking fire, focused on Dale. Large scales and protrusions dripped with liquid ooze. “You have arrived sooner than expected,” the creature rasped.<br />

<span style="background-color: yellow;"><b>What genre do you write and what influences your writing?</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: yellow;"><b>What is a secret thing you yourself look for when choosing the next book to read?</b></span><br />

<span style="background-color: yellow;"><b>Optional: Currently Reading --(goodreads tag)</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: yellow;"><b>Optional: add tag line for current work.</b></span><br />
<br />
<b>Format as follows:</b><br />
<br />
<br />
YA Paranormal Fantasy Author<br />
<br />
Most of my ideas come from dreams, or feelings I get. I have an active imagination. I try to better my own writing by reading other authors in my genre and read carefully, taking note of the things I like about the book. Asking myself questions, why do I like it? What do I not like and why? I stick these questions and their answers away in my toolbox and try to implement them as best I can into what I write next. Always trying to one up myself.<br />
<br />
I love immortal worlds, so if I had to choose a book, I'd pick immortal beings over ordinary human life. Also, I look for character development. I don't always need a fresh take on trope that works, sometimes I just need new people experiencing the freshness of developing relationships.<br />

Goodreads Giveaway!</h2>
It is with great pleasure that I announce that <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F5KXLV5" target="_blank">Blood Crescent </a>is doing a giveaway for 20 copies of the Kindle e-book before it's official publication in September!<br />
<br />
The time is nearing, and like all authors I squirm with a mixture of anxiety and excitement at the release of my own book. I wanted to share with you all a little about how this book was birthed, if you want to skip to the giveaway link just scroll down, it's easy to spot. lol, but it doesn't allow entry until August 1st... which is why I am posting this at exactly 11:59 p.m. So, by the time you've clicked on the post, it should be ready for you!<br />
<br />
The book was born during a dream where I saw two characters circling each other under the moon, but there were multiple moons and they were changing colors as the characters rotated... floating in the air as they held each other. The colors morphed within a haze of fog surrounding them. Then they kissed, I could feel they were in love, but something was wrong, it was filled with sadness. I was filled with sadness. I was dealing with a lot of depression, working two jobs, feeling useless, feeling stuck, feeling unloved, and this dream came, and I had this overwhelming feeling to write a love story about vampires.<br />
<br />
Little did I know, that it wasn't about love at all, but a coming of age journey, adventure, and mystery that evolved from a state of confusion and the deafening feeling of sadness into discovery, power, betrayal, friendship, and not feeling alone... all wrapped into a supernatural story of vampires... energy vampires. Join the giveaway below to enter for your chance to read it for free.<br />

<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
Marshall McLuhan’s challenge—“Turn to page 69 of any book and read it. If you like that page, buy the book”</blockquote>
Okay team! I know this is going to seem odd, weird, different, and strange... but take it like a champ and join the challenge.<br />
<br />
This is both fun for Readers and Writers, it's an opportunity to share your work, and or a book you're reading and BAM get recognition, whether your book is published, not published, self-published, traditional or what not!<br />
<br />
Here's how it works:<br />
<br />
<b>STEP ONE: FIND PAGE 69</b> in the book you are (currently reading/currently writing/already published) and pick your favorite paragraph from that page... NO cheating! One or two paragraphs.<br />
<br />
(Some flexibility with the fact that formatting plays a role into this) If you are published and you have a paperback, use that page count, if you are e-book only/editing/currently writing then just use page 69 of whatever formatting you have your work in at the time. If you're a kindle user... then use location 1650 (around there is page 69 for my own book, so we'll just use that as a guideline.)<br />
<br />
<b>STEP TWO: Copy this passage </b>and paste it into the comment's section of this post.<br />
<br />
<b>STEP THREE: TAG </b>at least three other people on Twitter to accept the challenge.<br />
<br />
<b>STEP FOUR:</b> At the end of the month come back to this post and comment on one other entry, and come back as much as you want to this page and follow the entrants on Twitter and or Goodreads. Like a passage, then add the book to your "to-read" list. (#Marshalls69 #page69challenge) Twitter Hash to share on social media if we want to be cool and start a new thing.<br />
<br />
<b>OPTIONAL:</b> Post your page 69 on your own blog and link back to this page (add your page link into your comment entry)<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Official Logo that you can use:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBFLURu1BoSne3x0kzKutzRamK70HvyjBFlHdekXMb2IIDMBkdAO-Rwy6Ag2mZa5Go8Sp3OVtv1auRltgtSzQpKBb6FbcqdhWxAq7fBQk62zKQ3SIB3VJEosWLdFvyNpQ_UlmrLgcwWZLB/s1600/page69challenge-heavensfiction.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="190" data-original-width="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBFLURu1BoSne3x0kzKutzRamK70HvyjBFlHdekXMb2IIDMBkdAO-Rwy6Ag2mZa5Go8Sp3OVtv1auRltgtSzQpKBb6FbcqdhWxAq7fBQk62zKQ3SIB3VJEosWLdFvyNpQ_UlmrLgcwWZLB/s1600/page69challenge-heavensfiction.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
winner of the challenge will get to display the same icon but with "WINNER" on it</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are TWO winners (the book with the winning page 69, and the person who submitted the page for consideration)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Depending on participation, Honorable mentions will be given. Also, a blog badge will be provided with "HONORABLE MENTION" on it.</div>
<br />
<b>OPTIONAL: </b>add why you like this passage (feel free to flaunt if it's your own work) No judgement here, if you can't be proud of it then how can stranger's be? FLAUNT it PROUD, FLAUNT it LOUD!<br />
<br />
<b>OPTIONAL: </b>If it's published add a link to your Goodreads (no buy now links) and to your twitter handle.<br />
<br />
If this experiment does well then I will continue to do it on other months, or I may try to find another experiment to try to boost author awareness, even if I haven't yet read and reviewed the work.<br />
<br />
<br />
The passage with the most comments on it will be the winner and have it's own Challenge winner post to highlight its awesomeness.<br />
<br />
My entry isn't viable for winning, but I'll give you an example to get the party started.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;">“No really.” He pressed further, and held out his hand like we had known each other for forever, sharing worse secrets about my conspiracies and my mother. My age was trivial comparatively. </span><br />
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: blue;">“My name is Victor, I work at a coffee shop, I want to go travel the world, I want to find a girl that will run off with me and trust that she won’t disappear the minute we do. Nice to meet you. Who are you?</span><span style="color: blue;">”</span><br />
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: blue;">It was a game, and it was cute, but how was I supposed to trust anything he said was any less fake than the age on my work application, or my fake social security number to pass background checks, or even the fake smile I put on, as I looked into those patient blue eyes waiting for me to spin him more lies. Because I would. Lie to him." -- </span><a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39935353-blood-crescent" target="_blank">Blood Crescent</a><span style="color: blue;"> </span><a href="http://www.twitter.com/authormarie" target="_blank">@authormarie</a><br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span>
The goal of this challenge to build your platform, follow new authors, and share in the love of reading.<br />
<br />
I'll prepare a lovely little badge that can be displayed on the winner's blog if they have one, and or just a fun way of having a visual for participation in the challenge. Great thing about challenges is that it allows you to flaunt your own stuff without feeling like you're peddling your wares. So, join in the fun. I CHALLENGE YOU!<br />

The Portal is an intriguing action adventure with fully flushed out social and political systems, and a main character that struggles with moral decisions while forced into precarious positions. All the while, there are people being tortured and battles a plenty in search of The Portal, but is this religious icon a saving grace... or the "E"-day for everyone, an end to humanity as they know it.<br>

I listened, yes listened through Audible, to ALL THREE books in the span of a week. The Kricket Series engulfed my life and made me feel all the feels. It may be a controversial opinion, because you will either love the books or hate the books.<br>
